One of Konami’s flagship titles makes its return to consoles in this more cinematic addition to the long-running Castlevania series.
Castlevania has enjoyed a varied lifetime in gaming since first arriving on consoles in the mid-80s. In recent years the series has stayed true to its side-scrolling roots with handheld releases, but Castlevania – Lords of Shadow moves the action into the 3D realm with a more epic storyline and cinematic feel. When Earth’s alliance with the heavens is shattered by the Lords of Shadow, darkness drapes the world and the souls of the dead are free to roam at will. As a member of Brotherhood of Light, players must travel the world as Gabriel and lay waste to the undead threat.
The painstaking platforming and puzzles Castlevania is known for remain intact, but Lords of Shadow places greater emphasis on action and storytelling, giving players access to a range of fast-paced moves more in line with God of War or Devil May Cry. Lord of Shadow’s more cinematic style has been overseen by cut scene king and creator of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima.
Castlevania – Lords of Shadow adds a much-needed sense of cinematic style back into the beloved Konami series, creating more action-heavy gameplay for its new console debut.
